ABA Author Interview with Sandra Bunino, Author of "Marooned in Miami" plus Giveaway!

Kiki: What is your favorite genre to read in, and what is it about that genre that attracts you to it? If you like a specific mix of genres, please state that particular combination.

Sandra: I’m a sucker for a great romance. There is just something about the age old story of boy meets girl ->boy loses girl -> boy gets girl in the end. Sprinkle in a tall, dark and handsome Alpha hero, a beautiful but feisty heroine, some smokin’ hot sexy scenes and the always promising happily ever after and you have a swoon worthy story. I just don’t get tired of reading them!

Kiki: What is your favorite author to read in that genre, and why? Also, please tell me a little about the best book by that author you have read.

Sandra: The author that comes to mind is Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series. I am currently on Book Five, but my favorite is the first, Outlander. It’s a time travel love story about modern day Claire and her 18th-Century Scottish lover, Jamie. Their love was hardly conventional, always controversial and forever sizzling. Reading this series is a commitment because each book is long and detailed. I do take a break from them once in a while but I always look forward to the continuation of Claire and Jamie’s love story.

Kiki: Do you have a Favorite Book of All Time? Of course, please tell us what about that book makes it your favorite.

Sandra: Wow this is a tough question but it has to be The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I love Allie and Noah’s story. There were so many reasons why they should have parted ways and moved on with their lives. Time and distance couldn’t even keep them apart. They were just meant to be together. Their chemistry jumps off the page and keeps the reader hooked from the start.

Kiki: What is the best book you read last month, and would you recommend it to a friend?

Sandra: There are actually two books I would recommend, His Indecent Proposal by Lynda Chance and Curio by Cara McKenna. Both are erotic romance novellas that are hot, hot, HOT!

Kiki: What are your reading habits like? For example, how many books do you read on average in a week, what format do you prefer to read in, what time of day do you read, and what setting is ideal for you to get lost in that book?

Sandra: I am currently not reading as much as I would like because I’m in the middle of editing my next release, Sara’s Smile. I love reading on my Nook eReader and prefer short novellas that I can read in a night or two. I usually read before bed but I also love to curl up in my living room on a Sunday afternoon and get lost in a great story.

Kiki: If pressed, could you choose a favorite from the books you have written? Why is it your favorite?

Sandra: Wow, another difficult question. I think of each book like they are one of my children. Do you really have favorites? I love them each in their own unique way (that’s a mom’s easy way out of the “who’s your favorite” question).

Since I currently have just my debut, Marooned in Miami, published, I will choose that one. It’s a lust to love story about erotic romance about two strangers caught in the perfect storm. It begins with the hero and heroine sharing a lustful, no-strings-attached night only to discover they cannot simply walk away from each other.

Kiki: How do you become inspired to write?

Sandra: People watching! I love to watch people interacting with one another. There is so much you can tell about their relationship just through their body language. I can glance a couple having dinner together and a story plays out in my mind (did that sound stalker-ish??). I also get a lot of my story ideas from songs. My next release, Sara’s Smile, was inspired by a song about lost love.

Kiki: What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?

Sandra: I’m big on scene set up. I like to describe the physical setting. For example, in Marooned in Miami it was very important that the reader understand the romantic, old world charm of the hotel. Details such as marble floors, potted ferns, floor to ceiling windows, and crystal chandeliers are described so that the reader can lose himself or herself in the scene.

Kiki: Please share with ABA readers something I did not think to ask you about.

Sandra: I’m not only a sucker for a steamy romance story but also for a cute pair of kitten heels. Yes, I’m a shoe girl! Right now my shoe of choice is my pair of creamy suede boots and I can’t wait until sandal season.

Here’s a snippet from Marooned in Miami:

Undeniable lust and a fierce Miami storm bring sexy strangers together at The Hotel Del Santos for a passion filled night.

Stephanie, still reeling from a failed marriage, needs a break from the past. She decides to take her friends’ advice and finds a perfect stranger for a night of no-strings-attached, smoking hot sex.

Jason, a wealthy Seattle builder has the worst luck with love. Swearing he would never allow another woman to get under his skin, Jason decides a life of casual sex is just fine with him. While watching Stephanie’s sexy stilettos click across the lobby floor he zeros in on his next conquest.

Cut off from the outside world, the lives of these two strangers collide and burn with desire when stranded in the perfect storm. Both are content with the idea of sharing a glorious one-night stand together, that is, until they go their separate ways.
