My Review of “Boyfriend from Hell” by e. van lowe

Book Description:

Aww, Hell No!

Fifteen year-old Megan Barnett and her single mom, Suze, have a special relationship—they are friends, close friends, who do almost everything together.

“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes? Of course not…”

The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again. She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.

Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando. Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships. But neither of the handsome guys is quite what he seems. In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride. Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him. If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL.

Boyfriend From Hell is the first book in the Falling Angels Saga from the author of the gruesomely hilarious, Never Slow Dance With A Zombie

My Book Review:

There is just no star rating for this one for me (by the way am I the only one who thinks the star rating system needs some guidelines? LOL)! What I mean by this is that as I read this book – liking it at times, not liking it as much at others, then really getting into it for awhile – I realized that my problems with it were probably what would make it a great YA book. Go ahead and laugh, but what I mean by this is that I am a mother of teens, and I think when I became annoyed with the main character Megan it was because the author had captured the true essence of a teenager. *shakes head* You know, the good, the bad, and well the illogical, Jeckyl & Hyde, mouthy, stand by what you believe at the moment even if you don’t have a leg to stand on, downright crazy at times transition from child to adulthood…

Megan Barnett had quite the personality – and, okay, quite a lot to deal with since her mom started dating Satan!

I found the plot cute, maybe a tad to clique at times, but definitely well thought out and laid out for the subject matter. It kept my interest, and I found myself reading away, a slight frustrated sigh at times and then a smile, etc. I think this book would be great for the younger YA crowd, especially since this author kept the book nice and clean besides a few kisses.

But, let me just mention, and this should grab the teens nicely, if you like books with big - BIG – twists at the end, then this one is definitely for you. I was blown away by all that happened at the end. Oh, and huge kudos to the author for making the outcast into a nice friend :) Talking myself into four stars if you are an adult reader and five if you are a teen! LOL

  1. Great review.

I have to read this this, it's on my Kindle- will share with my daughter too.

I'll probably be the same way you are- as a mom some things teens do drive us crazy- I'm like that with some of the shows I watch with my daughter, it's like OMG what the hell are they thinking?

    We live and learn...

  2. I think it is a really good one for teens. Of course I have boys who hate to read, so I won't be passing it on! LOL

I hear you on the shows! It makes me feel very old to start thinking things are inappropriate because I never thought I would really be that way, but man, they are really pushing the boundaries here even for the liberal minded!
