Men of May Blog Hop, May 4-6

A great writing tip I once read was to pattern your characters after celebrities, that way if you get to writing, and you suddenly can’t remember the color of his eyes or the style of her hair, you have an easy reference. Since this was often an issue for me, I started to use this tip in every story. Want to know what famous people have inspired my characters? Of course, they are pretty much all from paranormal type shows, but well that is what I mostly watch.

My novel, Hidden Salem, coming out in October, had three sexy men inspired by TV and Movies.

Noah, my sexy cop, was inspired by Ian Somerhalder (Damon from Vampire Diaries and Boone from LOST) I mean that combo of ice blue eyes and jet black hair all tousled – who could forget that?

Dylan, my cute history teacher was no stretch, using Matthew Davis(Alaric Saltzman – history teacher from Vampire Diaries) The guy was just perfect for the adorable, nice guy that everyone loves.

Thomas, the ghost, was inspired by Matthew Mcconaughey (Loved him in How To Lose A Guy in Ten Days) I liked the curls and down-home good looks from my guy from 1768.

Okay, I know you are going, where are the guys without shirts, right? Well, I’ve used many more guys from TV for inspiration like…

Everyone's favorite werewolf, Alcide from True Blood - Joe Manganiello
Yes, he was my wolf in my At War in the Willows Series of course.
Also, one of my vampires in that story was Eric from True Blood - Alexander Skargard
Last but not least would be Sam from Supernatural - Jared Padalecki who posed as inspiration for my fallen angel in A Questionable Hero.
Oh wait, and you know that Sawyer from LOST - Josh Holloway has been often used as a few different characters *winks*

So, to enter my giveaway, simply comment below telling me what guy would inspire you? Leave me a way to contact you. I will choose 3 winners on May 7th. Each will get their choice of one of my currently available stories in PDF format. Go to http://www.kikihowell.com/2010/06/stories.html for a complete list.

  1. I agree with all your choices. My history teacher didn't look as good as Matthew Davis. So not fair!

  2. All of the above choices are beautiful.

James McAlvoy has been it for me lately. There is something in his eyes and how he carries himself that makes me pay attention.
