My Review of “Spice It Up” by Jennifer Labelle

Blurb:

Heidi Taylor has fallen in love with a man who is off limits. He’s her best friend, and she’s afraid to tell him how she really feels. So when she hits a dry spell in her romantic life, Nathan makes it his duty to spice things up for her, shocking her, and making her true feelings known.

Nathan De Costa met the most amazing woman alive three years ago when he placed a roommate wanted ad in the newspaper. He’s secretly loved Heidi for almost two years, and decides to make his move once her love life hits a rough patch. The problem is that his sexual tastes are risqué and he’s not sure that Heidi would be able to keep up. She shocks him by becoming everything he’s ever wanted and more, but it’ll take almost losing her for good before he finally makes her his, permanently.

Genre: Erotic contemporary Romance, F/M/M ménage

My Review:

It is no secret what a fan I am of Jennifer Labelle’s work. In fact, in my mind I call her the Mistress of Emotions, as I know each time I begin reading on of her stories that I am in for an emotional ride. And, having started reading with her novel “Meant to Be” and moving into her Leather and Pleasure series, I have to say that with each books things just get spicier too. With “Spice It Up” Ms. Labelle created a unique set up and gave it the sexiest resolution yet. And it came with all the emotional twists and turns and bumps in the road that I expect from this author. There was a few moments that I went from feeling sorry for Nathan to thinking him a jerk and back again, and I appreciate the reality of emotions that this author brings to her works. They capture me, take me on a new roller coaster each time.

Recommend this story? It goes without saying! I’m always up for a new Labelle tale :)

My Review of "Naughty Noel" (Leather and Pleasure 4) by Jennifer Labelle

Naughty Noel (Leather and Pleasure 4) Blurb:
Noel Lewis has had a lot of firsts in her life, but this holiday season she’s making memorable. She’s the star of her first holiday performance at the fetish club she works at, Leather and Pleasure, and finds herself leading her first ménage a quatre for hundreds to see, unleashing her naughty side. Nervous at first, she soon realizes that she’s a natural on stage and aims to please.

Julian, Jake, and Josh love to be dominated, and when they get an offer to accompany the sexy new waitress to perform the holiday show, they all jump at the chance for different reasons. Jake, and Julian like to play the field, but Josh has secretly admired her since she started working there. So when the chemistry is so great between them while performing, he’s thrilled hoping it will help convince her that they’d be great together.

Genre: Erotic contemporary, BDSM, F/M/M/M Menage

My Review:
I have to state again in this review how much I’m really enjoying reading this series by Jennifer Labelle. I love sexy shorts, and each of these have been wonderful, so different.  It seems Ms. Labelle and I have the same taste in music, because once again, she chose one of my favorite holiday songs to incorporate into the book, “Christmastime” by Smashing Pumpkins.  Don’t you just love when little things like that make you connect with a book or character right away?

This short little read is at the club, Leather and Pleasure,  of course, but this time with a Christmas-themed show. This is a holiday tale where you let go of your inhibitions for old Santa as Noel tames three of his very handsome reindeer. Hmm, whips, three naked men dressed as reindeer, tied up, obeying their female master, yeah, that’s a Christmas dream all right! *giggles* Or, imagine getting a special spanking from Santa’s elves… So, indulge yourself in a little fantasy, a little fun of the very naughty sort, one evening this holiday with this red hot tale, and imagine yourself Noel ;)

All you have to do to enter is send an email to authorsbyauthors@gmail.com with the Subject Line of “Trick or Treat” Then list for me which of our blogs you’ve followed by simply listing in the body of the email the author’s name(s), one entry per follow. For example, for five entries, you would write “Bri, BK, Jennifer, Joanna and Kiki.”

Here’s the list of blogs and a bit about each of the wonderful authors I have with me today who have contributed to the wonderful pot of prizes to fill your virtual and physical trick or treat bags:

You are already on Authors By Authors,  http://authorsbyauthors.blogspot.com  owned by me, Kiki Howell. I’m an author of paranormal romances sold both in ebook and print. I like to write about witches mainly, but also vampires and ghosts and all manner of paranormal creatures. So, Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. Warning though, my heroes and heroines tend to roam into the graphically sexy part of town! You can learn more about my stories at http://www.kikihowell.com

Next, check out  Bri Clark at http://briclarkthebelleofboise.blogspot.com/ Bri is known as the Belle of Boise for her true southern accent, bold demeanor and hospitable nature. But don't let the blonde hair, blue eyes, and accent fool ya. She's as volatile as a wildfire on the prairie.

Now onto, BK Walker at http://www.immortylcafe.com You can learn all about BK's books athttp://authorbkwalker.blogspot.com BK loves to write about the paranormal, her niche is vampires and werewolves. Her favorite holiday just happens to be Halloween because this is when her creative world can get the juices flowing with the energy brought with this holiday.

Next we have, Jennifer Labelle at http://labellebooks.blogspot.com Jennifer likes to write contemporary romances a little on the spicy side, and short kinky reads in her Leather and Pleasure series. She enjoys paranormal reads, and looks forward to Halloween with her kids. You can read all of Jennifer's books at http://www.jenniferlabelle.com

And last but not least, we have Joanna Wilson, the author/expert on Christmas-themed TV episodes, specials and movies.  But she has a trick up her sleeve as she frequently writes about filmed horror stories that overlap with the yuletide.  In her book, The Christmas TV Companion, she has an entire chapter devoted to Christmas horror stories!  Let's face it, Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without Charles Dickens' ghost story A Christmas Carol or Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, would it?  As a treat, check out her blog: http://ChristmasTVhistory.com

My Review of "Second Chance Love" by Jennifer Labelle

Second Chance Love Blurb:
Goody, goody Teegan Hallowell was tired of being teased for following the rules. So, when her brother’s sexy friend shows an interest, she rebels, and learns all about the good kind of bad.
Now ten years later, Teegan returns home to escape a horrible mistake, but wonders if she’s made an even bigger one by returning. There was a reason she left Digby, when her dreams shattered and the man she loved betrayed her. So when she realizes she’s still in love with him, matters become complicated when he reveals her reason for leaving him was all in vain.
Liam Bates has every intention of loving Teegan again, but she’s had it rough and he needs to rebuild her trust. The spark is still there, and as they explore what once was, their love is tested when Teegan disappears, and Liam will stop at nothing until he finds her again.

My Review:
In true Labelle style for me, reminiscent of her novel Meant to Be which I loved, Second Chance Love was one of those heart-wrenching books that I just gobbled up. For me, when reading Jennifer Labelle, it is so all about the story she creates, great romances where hearts broken, by love and life, are healed in a whirlwind of scenes and places. She takes those typical plots I crave in romance and adds to them her own unique complications and her own rules for heat until she has one sizzling and suspenseful plotline. The emotions leap off the page and consume the reader. I read both stories in under 48 interrupted hours. She writes stories you don’t walk away from unless you have to.

I have to chuckle though, I though the minute I read the dedication page and saw the authors acknowledge Shinedown and Nickelback, that I was going to love this story. I was so right!

My Review of "Sinfully Sexy" (Leather and Pleasure 3) by Jennifer Labelle

Blurb:
Sable Dixon and Lila Davis have been lovers since they started working at the ever popular fetish club Leather and Pleasure, but Lila has curiosities and would like to know how Sable feels about having a third join them sometime. She’s a little nervous, but can’t shake this fantasy that she hopes to enact sometime soon. So when Sable accepts and seems eager to have it happen, why is it that she suddenly feels nervous?

Lila is the love of Sable’s life, but when she’s approached with the tempting request of having a threesome, Sable is all for it and quickly invites Parker into the mix. He’s good looking, respectful, sexy as hell and there’s no one else she’d rather share Lila with. One invitation turns into so much more where fantasies are lived, and one sinfully sexy night has them all coming like they never have before.

Genre: Erotic contemporary, BDSM, F/F/M Menage

My Review:
I am really enjoying reading this series by Jennifer Labelle. I love sexy shorts, and each of these have been wonderful, so different. The author thanked her readers in the dedication for letting her experiment with her writing, but I am here to say that her experiments are paying off. Each story has just gotten better. This one seemed very solid, the writing style, the story line, the dialogue to the situations, all just fit together into one well-written, hot – lets not forget hot – sexual scenario that just flows along the pages.

Mrs. Labelle ménage (f/m/f) evolves in such a way, from phone sex to work to home, interweaving the three characters, that by the time the two women tie up the guy…well I will just leave that there, but it had me squirming!

So excited to read Naughty Noel (Leather and Pleasure 4) next month!

Jennifer Labelle Reviews “Irish Fling” by Valerie Douglas

Irish Fling Blurb:
At a crossroads in her life and career, orphaned Ali Dearborn had
always been the smart one. With near perfect recall, she accomplished
a lot in a very short time. A meteoric rise led to an equally meteoric
fall. With her life and career in shambles, she goes in search of her
mother's roots in
Ireland. Lost, she offers handsome Aidan O'Connell a
lift from his broken-down car and she gains an impromptu tour guide.
But is Aidan only looking for a brief Irish Fling?

Review of Irish Fling:
The author does an amazing job with this well written tale of love at
first sight. Ali Dearborn is at a crossroads in her career and in
life. Orphaned at a young age, she moved around living in various
foster homes. She travels to Ireland with a dual purpose in mind, one
is to re-visit the Irish roots belonging to her mother, making her
feel connected to a family she’s longed for, and the other is to put
her new business plan into action.

Her sense of direction is horrible, lost almost immediately after her
arrival fate steps in, in the form of a gorgeous dark haired, blued
eyed Irishman named Aidan O’Connell. He’s stranded by the side of the
road with a broken-down car, and she’s in need of directions. While
entranced by his sexy good looks, easy going attitude, and sexy Irish
brogue, he designates himself as her very own personal tour guide, and
she accepts. Having him around will certainly make her life easier.
There’s a chemistry between the two of them, and there are several
historical spots along the way that she’d like to see, but is Aidan
only looking for an Irish fling or is he willing to accept her heart
with something more permanent before it’s too late? Ali is full of
surprises, and it isn’t until he almost loses her that he gets a
wake-up call, and Ali is deemed a hero.

This is the second book I’ve read in this Valerie Doulgas series about
a group of four friends, Ali, Cam, Maggie and Jesse who didn’t have a
normal family life, but found each other and made their own. So far
I’ve read Ali’s Story “Irish Fling”, and Maggie’s story “Director’s
Cut”, and I’m looking forward to reading about
Cam in “Dirty Politics”
and Jesse in “Two Up”. What can I say, I’m hooked!

My Review of “When Sparks Ignite (Leather and Pleasure 2)” by Jennifer Labelle

Blurb:
Rhys Evans should feel on top. He’s got a booming business, money, and the subs are a dime a dozen in his ever growing, popular fetish club, Leather and Pleasure. So why is it that he feels unfulfilled? There’s something missing in his life, and it isn’t until he meets
Eden that he realizes she’s the one he needs to ignite the passion that he lacks to go on.

Eden Mayer is tired of living her regular routine, and has been feeling way too lonely lately. So, when her best friend suggests she try out this new club she’s never heard of before, she decides to throw caution to the wind and check it out. What she’s met with is a night she’ll never forget, a new experience she vows to keep, and the most gorgeous man she’s ever laid eyes on. Rhys Evans makes it a night she’ll never forget.

My Review:
This is another great, kinky, short story by Jennifer Labelle.! I needed a little time away from the real world, and this story was perfect. A nice light contemporary where a reader can forget themselves and live a dream life, one of fetish clubs and washboard abs :)  While you don’t have to read Leather and Pleasure, Book 1, to read Book 2, I have to give props for the creative way that Jennifer Labelle tied the two books together. If the reader has read Book 1,  in a brief mention the reader gets a little follow up info, more the HEA to the Book 1 HFN/HEA ending.  What that doesn’t make sense? LOL Well then my recommendation is to read them both!

I actually have a criticism of this story, which I hope everyone will see as the compliment it is supposed to be. - I wanted more ;)

The author’s dedication gave a big thank you to her readers for sticking with her, but this reader wants to say that after reading three of her stories, I am now a fan and anxiously awaiting Ms. Labelle’s next release.

My Review of “Leather and Pleasure” by Jennifer Labelle and Author Interview

My Review (Author and Book Information is below following the Interview):

Kink, menage, domination...its all there in this hot little story of a birthday gift gone M/F/M at a club designed for just that!

I enjoyed this erotic romp because of it's tone, a bit different in a good way from the usual dom/sub stories in that the female dom was more than willing to happily give these men exactly what they wanted without ever compromising, at least I felt, the loving relationship she had with her husband. The word giving comes to mind, and I enjoyed her personality, her goals, her drive. The drive behind everything remained light, not dark or possessive like it can sometimes get. I like both, but found this story a refreshing change of pace.

If you are looking for a short, erotic read, a one-nighter if you will, LOL, then this book would be a great choice!

Interview:

Kiki: What is your favorite genre to read in, and what is it about that genre that attracts you to it? If you like a specific mix of genres, please state that particular combination.

Jennifer:
I’ve always been drawn to the romance genre. Contemporary, historical, erotic, paranormal, suspense… Heck, I like them all. I like the escape as I read, and the happily ever after that seems to follow in these books.

Kiki: What is your favorite author to read in that genre, and why? Also, please tell me a little about the best book by that author you have read.

Jennifer: Lauren Dane, Kathy Love, Keri Arthur, Deanna Raybourne, Cheyenne McCray…
There are so many I couldn’t possibly narrow it down to one, and it would take all day to name them all.

Lauren Dane – Coming Undone, Brody and his sexy tattoo’s
Kathy Love – Anyway You Want It, Ren and Maggie chemistry is hot!
Keri Arthur – The entire Riley Jenson series – The whole thing was amazing.
Deanna Raybourne – Silent on the Moor, Nicholas and Julia finally make something happen.
Cheyenne McCray – Zack, Luke, Kade & Clay, the woman knows how to create some hot men! (Although I preferred her Ellora’s Cave version of these stories better.)

Kiki: Do you have a Favorite Book of All Time? Of course, please tell us what about that book makes it your favorite.

Jennifer: Jewels, by Danielle Steel

I picked up this book for the first time when I was fourteen, and fell in love with the connection that Sarah and William shared in the book. That was 16 years ago and I’ve read this heartfelt tale many times since, and it still makes me cry every time I do. That’s how well written it is.

Kiki: What is the best book you read last month, and would you recommend it to a friend?

Jennifer: Lumber and Lace, by Lietha Wards

And, I would definitely recommend this read. It’s a contemporary romance that hooked me right from the beginning. Comical in the beginning, and very satisfying by the end, it’s a read that keeps you guessing.

Kiki: What are your reading habits like? For example, how many books do you read on average in a week, what format do you prefer to read in, what time of day do you read, and what setting is ideal for you to get lost in that book?

Jennifer: Truthfully, I’ve been doing more writing lately than I have reading, but on average I probably read about two books a week. Most of my reading and writing happens when my kids are in bed.

Kiki: If pressed, could you chose a favorite from the books you have written? Why is it your favorite?

Jennifer: What a tough question, can I choose them all…LOL

Um, to narrow it down I’d have to say my November release, Second Chance Love. Liam is my dream man, literally. His character derived from a conversation with my sister one afternoon as we discussed the unfortunate tragedy of our mother’s death. Her only fault was her taste in men, and it made me really think about who my perfect guy was. He’s for her, for me, and for all women in general. I hope you all love Liam as much as I do, although my heroine Teegan is pretty great too!

Kiki: How do you become inspired to write?

Jennifer: Certainly, positive feedback inspires me to want to keep going. I’ve been blessed with a lot of that so far, but ultimately I just love to do it!

Kiki: What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?

Jennifer: The middle and end are easier for me to write than the beginning. It’s the starting hook that I find the hardest. I tend to second guess myself and constantly want to change what I have, until I get to the point where I just have to say forget it, and keep it to prevent myself from stressing.

My Review of “Meant To Be” by Jennifer Labelle and Friday Favorites Author Interview!

My Review (see below Interview for Author and Novel Information)

I gave this book 5 out of 5 Stars on Goodreads!

I read this story in one evening, I became so engrossed in its very emotional story. The plight of the heroine grabs you as if you were hearing about a friend. There was an element of mystery to the tale, hinted at, which made me anxiously read faster and faster to get an explanation. This is a story of love and betrayal, of dreams shattered - as frail as the bodies which house them, of family and friends support no matter what, and the possibilities of life - dream vacations and all. I am a sucker for anything Ireland, being my maiden name was Quinn, and this Irish-ending story did not disappoint. I will definitely be looking for more by this author!

Sorry, can’t narrow it down to specific books, so instead I shared a few of my favorite author’s and series.

1.       Keri Arthur - Riley Jenson Guardian series.
2.       Kathy Love - I Want You to Want Me, Anyway You Want It, Demon Can’t Help It, etc….
3.       Lauren Dane – Brown Sibling Series
4.       Deanna Raybourn – Julia Grey Series (A writer so talented, that she could make a drug addict seem appealing. Shocking I know, but it fascinates me with how she pulled it off. This series was very well written.)
5.       Richie Cusick – The Unseen

Favorite Book of All Time

Jewels, no matter how many times I read it, it still makes me cry every single time. Love it though!

WC Reviews:
“In this highly emotional tale, you will lose your heart to heroine Jenna Baker and all of the characters will evoke passions, both good and bad. I have never read a book like this in my life and cannot wait to see what author Jennifer Labelle comes up with next. I really don’t know where to start reviewing this amazing story of life, love, and death but might try by saying that it is a nail biting, heart crying, mad as hell tale that will leave you wanting more stories from Ms. Labelle.”
