We Go On: Charity Anthology for Veterans

I’d like to give a very special birthday shout out to my father, William David Quinn, a man who served his country in Vietnam, 1966-1967, earning both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. It is true that many dream of meeting their hero, but I was raised by mine. As long as I breathe, I will never get over the all he sacrificed, and the hero’s welcome he never got. When you grow up the child of a veteran, you come to understand, that what they went through, you will never understand, that that is your luxury and their burden.

With all of this in my head, I created this anthology, getting to work with many wonderful authors who gave of their time and talents to benefit such a worthy cause. With so many great veteran’s charities out there, 100% of the proceeds from this anthology will go to them, a different one chosen each month, starting with the Wounded Warrior Project end of March https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org

So, this year, as a way of saying a very special Happy Birthday to my father, I’ve set the anthology titled We Go On, to release on his birthday as a way of saying, “Welcome Home” I hope you will read on to find out more about this project and how you can help veterans by not only buying the book, but through other sites as well.

What is a Veteran? A Veteran-- Whether active duty, discharged, retired, reserve or national guard is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount up to, and including his/her life.

We Go On: Charity Anthology for Veterans

The poems and stories included in this anthology, written by various authors, tell of veterans outside of war, of how their sacrifice of service changed their lives long after the war was over. Although some of the messages of the sacrifices of war are sadly timeless, they speak of unsung heroes, and I say unsung because nothing we could ever do for them would ever be enough to say thank you for all they gave. With that said, with these poems and stories, we will give what we can. 100% of the profits made will go to charities for veterans.

To all who have served and to all of those who love them, we offer our undying gratitude because it is all we truly have to give you for your sacrifices, told and untold. So, we give what we can to honor you, to say thank you, and to, in some small way, give back. Although it could never be enough, a million thanks or a million dollars, we pray we can help some of the many who have given so much, so selflessly, and then suffered even as they fought another battle, the battle to go on…

  1. What a great tribute to your dad! I work with Vietnam Veterans every day and I have immeasurable respect and love for them. They have to work hard just to maintain on some days--I count it a success any time I can make one of my groups laugh since they do it so infrequently. Thanks for doing this on behalf of all of them!
